Aesthetic Clinic of the Year

This category is for any clinic in Ireland that offers aesthetic treatments. These may include (but are not limited to) botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, peels, radio frequency, laser treatments, body contouring, minor cosmetic surgery and cosmeceutical-based skincare. The clinic must have a medical practitioner (i.e doctor, nurse or dentist) working on site.


Entrants eligible for consideration must have opened before the end of October 2023.


Video and interview

Please be aware that if you reach the finalist stage for this category you will be required to submit a video according to criteria set by the PB/HJ Awards team and attend a video interview on Wednesday, 25 September 2024.

Aesthetic Practitioner of the Year

Any GMC-registered doctor, dermatologist or surgeon, GDC-registered dentist or GPhC-registered pharmacist prescriber working with the aesthetics industry in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.


The winner will demonstrate that they excel in the following areas:

  • A commitment to high levels of patient care and safety
  • Demonstration of ongoing professional education, training and revalidation, where applicable
  • A minimum of one patient case study that demonstrates your skills as an aesthetic medical practitioner
  • Testimonials from patients
  • Evidence of clinical expertise
  • Ethical provision of treatments and adherence to best practice
  • Significant contribution to the industry and their profession in the last 12 months.


Interview

Please be aware that if you reach the finalist stage for this category you will be required to attend a video interview on Wednesday, 25th September 2024.

  1. Please provide us with a professional biography listing details of where and when you trained as a medical practitioner; your qualifications, accreditations and experience that are specific to aesthetics; any previous accolades you have been given; any work you do as a conference speaker, KOL or trainer; any clinical studies, papers or articles you have written that have been published in professional magazines or journals; any associations you are a member of and any roles you hold within these associations. Any paid work you do as a brand ambassador.
  2. Please provide details of your current practice and where you work from as well as details of your website and links to your social media.
  3. Please provide at least one example/case study illustrating your work and details of how you achieved the result. Before and after images must be included.
  4. Please provide us with a maximum of three patient testimonials dated within the last year.
  5. Please tell us about the areas of your field that you feel you excel or specialise in (for example facial injectables, body contouring, threads, cosmetic surgery, laser).
  6. Please explain how you feel that you offer a high standard of clinical care to your patients to ensure their mental and physical wellbeing.
  7. Please tell us what you most enjoy about your job?
  8. Explain how you deal with challenging or difficult patients and complaints?
  9. Please tell us why you feel you should win the title of Aesthetic Practitioner of the Year 

Beauty Salon of the Year

To enter this category, you must not have any heat or water facilities such as saunas and pools (salons with steam, heat and water facilities should enter the Spa of the Year category).

Business Director of the Year

The driving force behind the business – forward thinkers, entrepreneurs and strategists.

A joint entry may consist of a maximum of three directors.

Colour Technician of the Year

WHO CAN ENTER?

  • All qualified hairdressers who work in a commercial environment and have done so for a minimum of three years excluding training may enter this category.
  • Entrants must have a regular client column within the region entered. A regular client column is working in a salon for a minimum of one day per week. This may be checked.
  • Work submitted may be published work.

HOW TO ENTER

  • The following needs to be submitted with your online entry;
  1. Make sure to take a video of your shoot. This needs to be a 360 degree video of each model before any work and on completion of the final look. This can be done on a mobile phone.
  2. 4 FINAL IMAGES - 10" x 8" (portrait) full colour, high resolution photographs, of the same model's hair after colouring. 
  3. PRE-EDIT IMAGES - Entries must be supplied with an “after” shot of each model before any post-production/ retouching. Each photograph should be no larger than 10" x 8" (portrait). The organisers and judges reserve the right to question any photographs, which appear to be computer enhanced. 
  4. BEFORE IMAGES - 10" x 8" (portrait) full colour, high resolution photographs, of the hair before colouring. 
  • Please complete our standard questionnaire for each look. This can be downloaded through the entry form or obtained by calling the Awards Team on +44 (0)20 7351 0536 or email awards@thepbgroup.com. This can include additional photographs to demonstrate the process, outlining: texture, porosity, previous colour applications and other relevant information.
  • The before and after photographs, together with the A4 technical explanations (as detailed above) for each shot should be uploaded with your entry. Please ensure that you upload each 'before' photograph and 'after' photograph in the same order as the questionnaire so that they can be clearly identified during the judging. 


THE PHOTOGRAPHIC SHOOT

  • Make sure to take a video of your shoot. This can be done on a mobile phone.
  • ENTRANTS MUST SUPPLY BEFORE SHOTS OF ALL MODELS.
  • Please ensure that nothing appears in the photographs or technical portfolio that could be used to identify the entrant i.e. branded gowns.

Educator of the Year

If you empower others through education, this is the category for you. This category is open to any educator who teaches hairdressers, beauty therapists and/or nail technicians. It is open to in-house educators, freelancers and training providers, and the education can be delivered in-person or online, including through social media.

Hair Salon of the Year

This category relates to an independently owned salon or one salon within a group.

THE PHOTOGRAPHIC SHOOT

  • You must declare which pictures contain the above by labelling the back of the pictures with the words ‘wig’ or ‘extension/hairpiece/strand’. 
  • No more than two faces may appear in any one photograph.
  • No more than three pictures can be used in two different categories. Photographs may be black and white or colour and the hair should be aspirational, wearable and reflect current trends.
  • Professional photographers, make-up artists and stylists may be used.
  • Images do not have to be head and shoulders, but they do need to focus on the hair, especially in terms of lighting and pose 

Make-up Artist of the Year

This category is for any make-up artist providing full make-up services who has been working in a salon or spa or as a freelance or mobile make-up artist.
